Programs and Services Info for Partners/Providers
Applying for Employment and Financial Support begins with a 30-45 minute telephone call. Please call this number: 1-888-256-1112 (TTY: (905) 762-0401)

Applicants are asked some basic questions and a time for an eligibility interview is set up with a Case Coordinator. Eligibility interviews take place at local Employment and Financial Support offices. These interviews determine who is eligible for Employment and Financial Support. In exceptional circumstances, applicants in emergency situations may be given a one-time emergency Employment and Financial Support cheque or food voucher.
Who is eligible for Employment and Financial Support?
  • Individuals or families who are residents of York Region with a proven financial need, which is assesed using Provincially-determined eligibility criteria.
  • Individuals willing to participate in Ontario Works employment activities
Do you Qualify for Financial Support?
  • Use the Ministry of Community and Social Services Eligibility Estimator to find out how much money you may receive if you are eligible. The Eligibility Estimator will ask you questions about your income, assets and expenses. It will not ask you any personal questions and your answers will not be kept. This is an estimate only and may change based on your individual circumstances
