Homemakers and nurses services are provided to financially eligible community members who are temporarily ill or who have a permanent illness or disability. This program covers the cost of an in-home homemaker or nurse, helping clients continue living independantly in the community. Homemakers may help with laundry, meal preparation, and light housekeeping tasks. Nurses provide basic nursing services.

York Region purchases homemakers and nurses services from various community agencies, and offers a subsidy to cover costs for income-tested clients. If you need homemakers or nurses services, call the Community Services and Housing Department at:
