Knowing how to look for a job can be difficult and confusing. Some Ontario Works participants have excellent job skills and are ready to find employment, but either cannot find it on their own or lack the skills necessary to do an effective job search. Employment Placement connects individuals with the resources they need to help them find paid employment in competitive jobs.
What will Ontario Works participants gain from being in the Employment Placement program?
  • Employment opportunities
  • On-the-job training or training through an outside institution
  • Follow-up support in their new position
  • Employment related expenses to cover initial costs such as work boots, uniforms, etc.

The key objectives for York Region's Ontario Works participants are work experience, training and employment. The focus of York Region's Ontario Works program is to support activities that will help participants find and secure employment.

For tips on finding a job, see the Related Links on the right of this page.

Employment Placement with Incentives program

The Employment Placement with Incentives program gives Ontario Works participants an opportunity to do on-the-job training while receiving wages for employment. It helps match qualified people with wage-paying jobs. Employers provide the jobs and the Ontario Works Employment Specialists find the Ontario Works participants to fill them.
