Programs and Services Info for Partners/Providers  
Child Care Fee Assistance is a Provincially-legislated program that subsidizes the cost of child care so it is affordable for eligible families.
 

Eligibility for Child Care Fee Assistance is determined using the same standards for all applicants and is available for York Region families who meet the following criteria:

  • Families with children aged birth to 12 years
  • Parents employed or enrolled in an education or training program
  • Families with an assessed financial need
  • Children's special or social needs
  • Parent's recognized special needs

Frequently Asked Questions about Child Care Fee Assistance:

 

  • Can I apply if I am self employed?
    Yes. A self employed person can apply for child care fee assistance.

  • Would a two parent family qualify?
    Yes.  Many two parent, two income families are currently receiving assistance.

  • Can students receiving OSAP apply?
    Yes.

  • If I own my own home can I apply?
    Yes. Families who own a home can apply for child care fee assistance.

  • Do I have to receive Ontario Works to apply?
    No, many families who are employed, or attend an education / training program may need help with the cost of child care.

  • Will my RRSP & RESP investments make me ineligible?
    No. As of December 1, 2004, RRSP and RESP investments are no longer considered as assets.

  •  Will I have to declare child care fee assistance as income on my tax return?
    No.  Child care fee assistance is not considered income as it is paid directly to the child care centre.

  • Where does my personal information go?
    The information you provide is treated confidentially and is used only for determining eligibility for child care fee assistance.

  • Can families apply if they only need part time child care?
    Yes. Many families with children attending part time child care are currently receiving assistance.

  • Is child care fee assistance available for before and after school care?
    Yes.  Many families with children attending before and after school programs are currently receiving child care fee assistance.

  • If I live in Toronto and work in York Region, Can I apply?
    No.  Child Care Fee Assistance is only available in York Region for families who live in York Region.
