- The Community Development and Investment Fund (CDIF) represents one of the important ways our Department supports community development and services to vulnerable York Region residents. Through this fund, the Department coordinates a number of Municipal, Provincial and Federal funding initiatives to purchase services from eligible community service agencies.
- The York Region Funders' Alliance is a network of national, provincial and regional funding bodies operating in York Region. The Alliance was established to help York Region based non-profits and charities make sense of which funder, or combination of funders, is the best match for their particular program or service, and to provide support in their search for funding. Through its Funders' Forums, Proposal Writing and other Workshops, the Alliance works with these organizations and agencies to help strengthen and expand their existing programs and services to residents of York Region.

- York Region's Community Social Data is an online resource that provides data and research developed by the Community Services and Housing Department. This data will increase awareness of the Region's rapidly changing social make-up and can be used to improve access to services by helping Regional Departments including Community Services and Housing and community agencies:
- with program and service planning at the local level
- with needs assessment
- understand demographic trends
- improve research and program development
The information provided is based on the Community Social Data Strategy (CSDS) – an initiative from the Canadian Council on Social Development in partnership with Statistics Canada. The goal of the CSDS is to share data as broadly as possible with community agencies that could not otherwise afford this type of data. To help accomplish this goal, a Community Reference Group, made up of York Region organizations experienced with social research and strategic planning has been established to:
- help share the social data broadly with smaller community agencies and organizations
- provide advice on the information posted on this site
- help with the strategic direction of the CSDS by acting as a reference group on products and communication material related to this project.
