YORK REGION INVITES PROPOSALS FROM COMMUNITY AGENCIES FOR COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT FUNDING IN 2009 |

| Community Enhancement Projects |
An opportunity exists for social service agencies delivering service to low income York Region residents to apply for Community Enhancement funding to a maximum of $10,000 per proposal.
The Community Enhancement fund is intended to enhance an agency's ability to deliver service in York Region to vulnerable residents.
Funds are for items of an immediate need and are available only to those agencies that deliver services to low income residents in York Region and meet the mandate of the Community and Health Services Department.
Eligible items:
- Urgent client needs: such as, but not limited to, winter clothing, client transportation, food vouchers, and personal basic needs such as toiletries. Food vouchers and transportation tickets are limited and must be aligned with existing agency client demand.
- Operational Expenses items that enhance the infrastructure of an agency's ability to deliver service and include, but are not limited to furnishings related to service delivery, website enhancements, and communication tools including brochures will be considered.
- Small capital items such as but not limited to: appliances such as water softeners, refrigerators and freezers, fax, photocopier, monitors, laptop, washers or dryers for shelter providers, and minor renovations such as a retrofit of a bathroom will be considered.
