Flooding: Emergency Preparedness Information
At this time of year, there is a potential for flooding in low lying areas in lands adjacent to Lake Simcoe. This includes the low lying areas of the Town of Georgina, Town of East Gwillimbury and Township of King. Your premises may be within a flood prone area. Residents, businesses and facilities in flood prone areas are advised to take precautions to protect themselves, their pets and their property.
Measure you can take as a precaution:
1. Insurance: Homeowners and businesses concerned about potential flooding are encouraged to check with their Insurance providers to determine if they have flood coverage.
2. Flood Preparation: Residents and business are encouraged to review The Regional Municipality of York's Emergency Preparedness Guide and assemble a 72-hour emergency supplies kit. Please visit the following website to learn more:

3. Sign up for community alerts: This program is offered through York Regional Police and will notify residents and businesses of an escalated risk of flooding. Please visit the following website to sign up:
