Historically, pandemics have occurred every 30-40 years. In the 20th century, there were pandemics in 1918, 1957 and 1968. Though nobody knows exactly when the next pandemic will occur, experts agree that another pandemic is overdue.

A Guide to Influenza Pandemic Preparedness and Response in Long-Term Care Homes (December 2005) is a 63 page document developed by the Emergency Management Unit, Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and is intended to guide and assist LTCFs before and during an influenza pandemic.
