Message from the Chair of Planning Committee
space
A Region that is expected to grow to 1.3 million residents in the next 25 years requires a strong, shared vision. Together, we need to protect the quality of life that brings people to live in our municipalities and visitors to our communities. We want a healthy, green York Region. We want a sense of community where we can enjoy many options of work, recreation, and education. Services and infrastructure must be in place to meet our needs as we grow. We require a government that listens and responds.

Vision 2026 is an exciting, strategic response to these needs.

By updating our strategic plan, we will continue to build on over 450 programs and initiatives that resulted from the Vision 2021 process. Vision 2026 will create new success stories as we move into the next quarter century with a renewed vision and refocused priorities that address new challenges and responsibilities.

Vision 2026 will guide us forward and help us maintain the quality of life we cherish and seek for our children and grandchildren.

Sincerely,
Frank Scarpitti
Regional Councillor,
Planning and Economic Development Committee Chair

Regional Council 2000-2003
