How can I get a map?
A. yrGeoMaps
The yrGeoMaps has a selection of over 150 map products in PDF format that can be downloaded, printed and emailed.
Click here to access yrGeoMaps.
Select the category that best describes the theme of the map by clicking on the map image for the category.
Descriptions of the map are provided and the map can either be previewed by clicking on the "Go To Map Preview" link or downloaded by clicking on the "Go To Map Download" link.
If you would like to download the map PDF to your computer, click on the disk icon, or you can print by clicking on the printer icon in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

How much does this map cost?
York Region Geomatics has several products available for purchase (prices include applicable taxes) such as:

Client map products can be ordered from Geomatics.

Development rates are $110.00/hour (charged per hour; 1 hour minimum)

Allow at least two weeks for scheduling and completion of product(s).

Maps are to be picked up with payment. Geomatics does not send out products. Customers can make arrangements for a courier; however, payment must be made prior to delivery.

How can I get access to the GIS data?
A. For general public, private corporation or non profit organization
You can get free access to GIS data through the interactive mapping on the yrGeo website.
o Choose Data > Live Data and Maps to search WMS and interactive views.
o Choose Data > Offline data for feature classes participating in yrGeo.
o Choose Documents > Static Map images for maps published in PDF.

Under "Choose Content Theme" find the appropriate category

The YorkInfo Partnership works together to create and operate a geospatial information infrastructure amongst all nine area municipalities within York Region, the Lake Simcoe Conservation Authority (LSRCA) and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA); and, the York Catholic District School Board and York Region District School Board and the Regional Municipality of York.
As a benefit of the Partnership, York Geomatics maintains and distributes quarterly updates of over 60 administrative, infrastructure, environmental and societal information to the Partners to support their business activities. To access this information within your organization, please contact your GIS department.

The most effective and efficient method for obtaining the data required is to contact the YorkInfo Partners GIS department directly.

If the municipality the you work for does not have a strong GIS department, then York Region may broker the data request on the municipality's behalf.
How can I get data corrected / updated / created?
How can I get access to ortho / aerial photography?
A. For general public, private corporation or non profit organization
- The Geomatics Branch does not distribute the orthophotography to the general public, private corporation, or not for profit.

Orthophotography provides valuable geographic context to support business operations. In 2005, several YorkInfo Partner organizations participated in a multi-year initiative to share the costs of acquiring current orthophotography through a licensing model. Participating partners have received delivery of 2007 and 2009 orthophotography.

To determine whether your organization participated in the orthophotography acquisition initiative contact your GIS department, or the YorkInfo Partnership coordinator, Debra Kelloway at (905) 830-4444 ext 1536, or Debra.Kelloway@york.ca.

If your organization did not participate in the initiative, orthophotography can be purchased through the vendor JD Barnes / First Base Solutions.

The best method for obtaining the orthos would be to contact the YorkInfo Partners GIS department directly. The Geomatics Branch supplies and exchanges data with the YorkInfo Partners GIS department on a regular basis.

If the municipality you are working for does not have a strong GIS department (i.e. King) then York Region may broker the data request on the municipality's behalf.
How do I get access to York Region Benchmark data?
York Region has YR Benchmarks available for viewing on yrGeo's interactive tool called yrGeoWorkBench. yrGeoWorkBench allows them to create maps of their area of interest and access a written description for each benchmark.

Click here to launch the "Vertical Control Benchmarks" view.

Zoom into the area of interest using the zoom and pan tools on the top toolbar or click on the "Locate" tab to search by intersection.

Maps can be created by clicking on the printer icon which will generate a PDF of the area you have zoomed into. The PDF can be saved to your computer, printed or emailed.

Use the identify tool to view the written description of the benchmark that is clicked on.
Why can I not access yrGeo?

yrGeo is designed to operate best with a display setting of 1024x768. You can check and change your monitor resolution by using the control panel > display > settings slider control.

Browsers have pop-up blockers to prevent unwanted ads displaying. However yrGeo uses other windows to display maps and information panels, and the results of queries. You can disable pop-up blockers specifically for yrGeo by right-clicking on the bar that appears at the top of your browser screen when a new window is blocked, and click the box indicating "allow pop-ups for this site only".
How do I contact GIS groups at area municipalities?
