Geomatics Successes

 
Client Customer Satisfaction
York Region Geomatics strives to provide efficient and quality products and services to our clients, and have introduced various tools and courses to improve accessibility to GIS technologies, geospatial information and maps.
 
  • 400-500 weekday users of yrGeo Services 
        o  2000-3000 downloads of top 5 static maps per month 
        o  5000-6000 user-sessions with top 5 interactive maps per month
  • 180 deployments of Desktop GIS, of which in any month there are 100 active users
  • 5-10% increase in Desktop GIS users per year
  • Over 300 participants have attended Geomatics Courses since 2001
        o  90% + of the participants were satisfied with courses offered 
        o  96% + of the participants would take another Geomatics course

York Region Geomatics Branch has received several awards for its products and infrastructure:
 
  • 2009 – GeoTech – Silver, York Region Land Use Designations & Hillshade Relief Map
  • 2008 – URISA Ontario BeSpatial Conference – Silver, York Region Immigration Profile Census 2006 Map
  • 2006 – URISA Ontario BeSpatial Conference – Silver, Best Municipal GIS
  • 2006 – URISA Ontario BeSpatial Conference – Silver, Best Web GIS
  • 2006 – ESRI Canada Map Calendar – York Region Water 10 Year Capital Plan & Approved Landuse Designation
  • 2005 – ESRI Ontario User Conference, Excellence Award for YorkExplorer Internet mapping site
