Housing Matters: A Review of the Housing Market in York Region - May 2012

This report updates the York Region Housing Directions Study (2000) which was submitted to Council in September, 2000. The updated study has been a collaborative exercise with the Community and Health Services Department and serves to update information and data, inform housing debate and policy, identify housing issue areas, and define "affordable housing" in order to implement and monitor affordable housing targets in the Regional Official Plan. The updated study will also help meet Provincial requirements for a Housing and Homelessness Plan.

Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe 2012 Consolidation Simcoe County - Addendum Report - April 2012

This report provides specific inclusions and exclusions in Amendment 1 to the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe ("Growth Plan") based on the Region's previous comments. The report also recommends steps the Region should take to ensure the Province is aware of these exclusions and means to have the issues included in the Growth Plan.

Ground-related Housing Demand /Supply Analysis - April 2012

The purpose of this report is to provide an assessment of the Region's current designated residential land supply to accommodate growth in ground-related housing, taking into account recent levels of housing demand by type and forecasted housing growth. The future residential land supply in Regional Official Plan Amendments (ROPA) 1, 2 and 3 in East Gwillimbury, Vaughan and Markham are not included in the analysis. The issue of the remaining land supply for ground-related housing was raised at a recent Planning and Economic Development Committee Meeting.

Draft Best Practices Guide for Planning Centres and Corridors - February 29, 2012

This report introduces a preliminary draft of the Best Practices Guide for Planning Centres and Corridors, in order to receive feedback and to serve as the basis for continued consultation with our planning partners, including the local municipalities and the development industry. The Best Practices Guide, itself, is intended to serve as an information and discussion tool to support the ongoing planning and implementation of Centres and Corridors in the Region. It is not a Regional guideline, rather a compendium of relevant information, and examples of innovative projects, that would support Centres and Corridors intensification.

Draft New Communities Guidelines - January 2012

This report presents the draft New Communities Guidelines. The draft guidelines will be used for extensive and on-going consultation with stakeholders, local municipalities and the development industry. Once finalized, the New Communities Guidelines will be a helpful tool to assist local municipalities and the development community in successfully implementing the Sustainable Buildings and New Community Areas policies of the approved Regional Official Plan, 2010.
