Public Consultation ProcessMeaningful and effective public and stakeholder consultation was critical to the success of the Water and Wastewater Master Plan Update. The public consultation strategy involved the local municipalities, key stakeholders and the public and was a very important component of the study. A Technical Advisory Committee (comprising Regional staff and staff from the local municipalities) was established to provide input at key points throughout the study. Further, study related information was posted on the Region's website for public comments and several newsletters were published during the course of the study. The update process involved three rounds of Public Consultation Centres on the Water and Wastewater Master Plan update and the York Region Transportation Master Plan update. We completed the First Round of Public Consultation Centre meetings, in Aurora, Keswick, and Vaughan, from November 21-23, 2006. Please click here to see the meeting notes, information panels and presentation slides that were shown at this session. A joint public consultation centre with Durham Region, focusing on the York-Durham Sewage System (YDSS), was held on April 17, 2007. Please click here to see the information panels and presentation slides that were shown at that session. The Second Round of PCCs on the Water and Wastewater Master Plan and the Transportation Master Plan was completed in November 2007. Please click here for more information. York Region also participated in two Water and Wastewater Master Planning Public Information Centres hosted by Durham Region on February 21, 2008 in Ajax; and February 25, 2008 in Pickering.
