Infrastructure Planning Branch

The mandate of the Infrastructure Planning Branch is to plan and monitor the current and future Regional Infrastructure (Transit, Roads, Cycling, Water, Wastewater (sewers)) needs to ensure a sustainable balance of supply and demand.  The branch is responsible for the development of the Regional Infrastructure Master Plans and annual monitoring of the capacity of the Regional water, wastewater and transportation systems.  These programs serve as input to the Regional Official Plan through policy development and review.  For more information on the Branch's current initiatives please visit our Internet Page

The branch has two primary components: 

Transportation Planning

The role of the Transportation section is to plan a sustainable transportation system (Roads, Transit, Cycling and Transportation Demand Management (TDM)) for the Region by identifying current and future infrastructure needs, setting programs and policies and monitoring and reporting on system usage. 

Water and Wastewater Planning

The role of the Water and Wastewater section is to prepare water and wastewater master plans, monitor capacity and review development plans in order to plan for and effectively respond to the water and wastewater infrastructure needs of the Region.
