In early May, all households in Canada will receive a Statistics Canada census package containing the 2011 Census Questionnaire. In addition, one third of households will also be asked to complete the voluntary National Household Survey.
It is important that you fully complete and submit your Federal Census Questionnaire and the National Household Survey because:
- Information collected from both is essential for planning a wide range of services and programs in your community including: schools, day-cares, police and fire services, affordable housing, immigration services, health services and planning and transportation improvements.
- Your answers also determine how much money is transferred by the Federal and Provincial governments to your community for health care, education and other social services.
Statistics Canada is required by law to protect the information provided on a Census Questionnaire. Your responses are confidential and will not be shared individually with other people or agencies of the government.
The 2011 Census Questionnaire and the National Household Survey can be completed online at www.census.gc.ca or on paper and submitted by return mail.
