Geomatics Branch
The Geomatics Branch has established a robust Enterprise GIS Information Infrastructure, to help improve corporate operations and integrate GIS seamlessly into regional business processes. Regional staff have self-service access to over 150 maintained data layers through desktop applications, while the public have access through YorkExplorer internet mapping views.
The benefits of this infrastructure are extended through data-sharing agreements, training and technology transfer to local municipalities in the Region through the YorkInfo Partnership, which now includes all nine local municipalities, both Conservation Authorities, and the School Boards.
