Regional Council adopted the Greening Strategy to "provide a context for Regional decision making that affects the natural environment". Responsibilities include program development, implementation and administration of this corporate initiative. Projects are delivered in partnership with other Regional Departments (e.g. Health, Planning etc.). The Strategy has 9 Action Areas, and the Section is responsible for both the delivery and co-ordination of projects, and the tracking and monitoring of corporate programs and initiatives which fulfil the objectives. Through this program key environmental initiatives and projects are delivered including: the acquisition of lands, development and delivery of educational initiatives, stewardship of the natural environment is promoted, rehabilitation e.g. tree planting etc.
