Vision 2026

Vision 2026 updates Vision 2021, an earlier strategic plan approved in 1993 that led to the creation of 450 new Regional programs and initiatives. Launched in 2002, Vision 2026 is the Region's strategic plan for the next quarter century. It provides guidance to Regional Council in making decisions and moving ahead to achieve the kind of community our citizens told us they wanted York Region to be in the Year 2026.

Vision 2026 is made up of eight goals and fifteen guilding principles that reflect the kind of Region residents told us they wanted for the Year 2026.

To assist our residents, the following translations of the Vision document are available through the links listed below:

Performance Measures Workbook

To make sure that Vision 2026 isn't just a document that sits on the shelf, we took the Performance Measures Workbook to the public in order to develop meaningful indicators that we can report on yearly.

Sustainability Progress Report

York Region is making significant progress towards implementing Vision 2026. However, we remain committed to continually improving performance and plans. We developed our annual report series through the Performance Measures public consultation Workbook. In 2009, York Region modifed the Vision annual reports to incorporate the York Region Sustainabilty Strategy.
