Regional employment totals topped the half-million mark by reaching an estimated 501,000 jobs in 28,000 businesses as of 2010.

Between 2009 and 2010, York Region employment grew by 8,000 jobs, or 1.9%.

York Region's economy has added nearly 100,000 jobs since 2001, an average annual employment growth rate of 2.7%, which also outpaced national and provincial growth rates over the same period.

The number of large firms (100+ employees) in York Region has grown significantly since 2001, with increases of over 200 firms (+35%), to a total of 770 firms.
