Corridor Approvals and Records

The Corridor and Approvals Section (C.A.R.S.) in Transportation Services is responsible for the following items

  • Municipal Consents
  • Contract Drawing Storage and Retrieval
  • Land Surveys
  • Asset Management
  • Spills Team

Municipal Consents

Municipal Consents are administered by the Corridor Approvals and Records section of York Region's Roads Branch. Our role, as managers of the Regional rights of way, is to review and provide consent to place utilities, sidewalks and any other street furniture in the Regional rights of way.

Contract Drawing Storage and Retrieval

Corridor Approvals and Records maintain a electronic files of Regional Road contracts. These drawing are available to the public by request for a fee. These drawings are available in a TIFF or PDF format. AutoCAD drawings are not available.

To request drawings, please send us an e-mail including the specific location and your contact.

Email: drawings@york.ca
Phone: 905-830-4444 ext. 5086.
NOTE: Your request will be handled within 5 business days or shorter. Although we have most drawings, there are certain roads where minimal information is available.

Land Surveys Survey

Corridor Approvals and Records have survey staff to pick up rights-of-way information for capital delivery projects, property line issues as well as traffic signal surveys.

Asset Management

The need to manage assets within the road allowance is important to the Region. With the asset data available, decisions can be made on which assets should be replaced based on their lifecycle. Corridor Approvals staff are implementing a new asset management program to provide senior staff with better decision making information as well as improved customer service. The new program will be implemented by early 2013.

Spills Team

The spills team responds to minor roadway accidents which impact the road allowance. The team ensures that our road asset is returned to its original pre-spill condition.

The spills team can be contacted through Transportation Dispatch at 905-830-4444 ext. 5200.
