How are Speed Limits Determined?

Each year, the Region conducts a review of all assigned speed limits on the regional roads. This review considers:

  • The speed that traffic travels along the roadway
  • The collisions that have occurred
  • Community concerns
  • Road features

Did you know...

Many signs on the Regional roads need by-laws. Regional Council must adopt new by-laws if these signs need to be installed or changed. Examples of some of these signs include:

  • Changes to speed limits
  • Parking and stopping restrictions
  • Turning restrictions
  • Truck restrictions
  • No passing
