York Region Transit enhancing service during World Youth Day

 

NEWMARKET – York Region Transit (YRT), including contracted TTC bus service north of Steeles Avenue, will be supplementing service on major routes during World Youth Day (WYD) from July 22nd to 28th inclusive.

Registered WYD pilgrims displaying their valid WYD pass will also have free access on all YRT, TTC, GO Transit Yonge C and Bayview bus service during dates specified on the passes from July 22nd to July 29th. Valid passes will also be accepted on the Special Go Train Branch Line Service (Newmarket and Markham) on July 27th and 28th (see below).

In addition to providing additional buses on major routes during regular operating hours, enhanced service will be provided on the following routes:

Monday, July 22 to Thursday, July 25

  • Route 1 (Highway 7): Last bus leaves York Region Terminal/Finch Station at 1:00 a.m.
  • Route 2 (Milliken): Last bus leaves York Region Terminal/Finch Station at 12:15 a.m
  • Route 77 (Highway 7/Centre): Last bus leaves York Region Terminal / Finch Station at 12:30 a.m.

Friday, July 26:

  • Route 1 (Highway 7): Last bus leaves York Region Terminal/Finch Station at 1:30 a.m.
  • Route 2 (Milliken): Last bus leaves York Region Terminal/Finch Station at 1:30 a.m.
  • Route 77 (Highway 7/Centre): Last bus leaves York Region Terminal/Finch Station

at 1:30 a.m.

Saturday, July 27

  • Route 1 (Highway 7) and Route 2 (Milliken):

Service starts at approximately 5 a.m. to the York Region Terminal/ Finch Station.

  • Route 9 (Markham Road): Departs southbound 5 minutes early to meet the Special GO Markham Rail Service
  • Route 31 (Aurora North) will divert into the Aurora GO Station to meet the Special GO Newmarket Rail Service times
  • TTC bus route 105 (Dufferin North) will be re-routed to Wilson Station.
  • TTC bus route 107 (Keele North) will be re-routed to Yorkdale Station.
  • A special GO Train will operate southbound between Newmarket to York University, as well as between Markham and Union Station.

Sunday, July 28

  • Route 1 (Highway 7) and Route 2 (Milliken): Service will begin at 4:30 a.m. to York Region Terminal/Finch Station.
  • Route 77 (Highway 7/Centre): Service will begin at 4:10 a.m. to York Region Terminal/Finch Station and the last bus will depart from York Region Terminal/Finch Station at 12:10 a.m.
  • Route 8 (Kennedy Road) and Route 9 (Markham Road): Service will operate from their respective GO Rail stations to meet the special GO Markham Rail Service times.
  • Route 85 (Rutherford/16 Avenue): Service will operate Saturday schedule frequency and routing between 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • An Aurora North GO Shuttle and Aurora GO South Shuttle will operate service from the Aurora GO station to meet the special GO Newmarket Rail Service Times from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • TTC bus route 105 (Dufferin North) will be re-routed to Wilson Station
  • TTC bus route 107 (Keele North) will be re-routed to Yorkdale Station
  • A Special GO Train Branch will run northbound between York University and Newmarket, as well as between Union Station and Markham.

In addition to YRT service, WYD will be chartering transportation service to assist pilgrims from designated cathecheses sites.
