Regional Chair to make major transit announcements

NEWMARKET – Bill Fisch, Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Municipality of York, will announce several major transit initiatives this week. Following the York Regional Council meeting on Thursday May 16th, Chair Fisch is expected to announce the selection of a private sector partner for the York Rapid Transit Plan (YRTP). He will also reveal details of $4 million in new service improvements for York Region Transit (YRT).

BACKGROUND:
The YRTP features an innovative Public-Private Partnership to fast track an inter-regional rapid transit plan in York Region with links to transit systems in the City of Toronto and the Regions of Peel and Durham.

YRT continues to grow with a host of new service improvements to help "Move York" better, faster and more efficiently for our riders.
