York Region offering mapping services onlineNEWMARKET – York Region is now providing public access to its mapping and spatial information online through YorkExplorer from the York Region Web site. "This initiative is in keeping with our quality of service principle in Vision 2026, the Region’s strategic plan for the next 25 years," said Regional Chair and CEO Bill Fisch. "It states that we will deliver leading-edge, effective, timely services to meet the needs of York Region’s residents and businesses." YorkExplorer presents a user-friendly web browser environment that can be easily handled by most computer users. The following internet mapping services are currently available:
"YorkExplorer has already proven to be a popular and valuable addition to the York Region Web site since it was first made available in June," said Markham Regional Councillor and Deputy Mayor Frank Scarpitti, Chair of the Region’s Planning and Economic Development Committee. "Additional services may be developed for public use, depending on demand and feedback from users."
