NEWMARKET – As part of the York Region Rapid Transit Plan (YRTP) to create a network of rapid transit across the Regional Municipality of York, studies are underway in two major transit corridors and two connecting links to the City of Toronto.
Residents and business owners are invited and encouraged to attend one of two upcoming Public Consultation Centres to comment on the design of alignment alternatives and station facilities in the Yonge Street Corridor.

BACKGROUND:
- York Region is collaborating with the City of Toronto, which has commenced a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study for rapid transit between Steeles Avenue and the Finch Subway station.
- The Yonge Street Corridor EA Study is examining rapid transit services between Steeles Avenue and 19th Avenue.
- Other studies include the Highway 7 Corridor, the Markham North-South Link and the Vaughan North-South Link
