New hours of operation for Markham SARS Assessment Clinic and Health Connection

To better meet the needs of York Region residents, the hours of operation for the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) Assessment Clinic in Markham will change. Effective Friday, April 18, the Clinic will operate from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., seven days a week. The Clinic will also be closed on Sunday, April 20, 2003.

Those wishing to visit a Clinic on April 20 can go to the Scarborough SARS Assessment Clinic at 2867 Ellesmere Road, located on the east side of Rouge Valley Health System's Centenary site, just north of the emergency department. This Clinic is open 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., seven days a week.

People visiting a SARS Assessment Clinic are reminded of the following:

  • Bring no more than one attendant with you
  • Patients requiring an interpreter are requested to attempt to bring one with them to the Clinic
  • Bring your Ontario Health Card and the name and phone number of your family physician
  • The role of the Clinic is solely as a temporary assessment clinic for people who believe they may have been exposed to SARS. It should not be confused with a regular medical walk-in clinic or a hospital Emergency Department

Outside the hours of Clinic operation, people should contact York Region Health Connection at 1-800-361-5653, which now operates from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven days a week, or Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000.
