The U.S. Bio-Terrorism Act What it means for Canadian Exporters


NEWMARKET – York Region will host a seminar on the new laws affecting exports to the United States.  A panel of experts from R.A. Miller & Company, the Guelph Food Technology Centre and OMAF will be discussing smart border initiatives, the Bio-Terrorism Act, packaging standards and much more.

Cost: $25 advance registration, $30 at the door

Background: As of December 12, 2003, the new Bio-Terrorism Act goes into effect and all FDA regulated shipments to the United States will need to be compliant.  The new regulation will require the registration of food facilities with the FDA and advance shipping notification plus detailed record keeping. According to the new laws, failure to comply is a prohibited act.
