York Region lifts water advisory

NEWMARKET The Regional Municipality of York, today, advised its area municipalities to lift the current water advisory.

The Region imposed the water advisory as a precaution against possible rotating blackouts, following the massive power outage on August 14th.  The advisory remained intact through the Labour Day weekend to ensure that adequate water levels were available in reservoirs during this typically heavy water use period.

Water conservation by residents played a significant role in maintaining reservoir levels this summer, and Region officials urge residents to continue to use water smartly by conserving whenever possible.

The Region's award winning Web site, Water for Tomorrow, has several useful tips and information for ongoing conservation.  Please visit it at www.water4tomorrow.com
