Capital Roads Projects 2004NEWMARKET - York Regional Council has approved a Transportation and Works 2004 capital roads budget of $156.3 million. Included for 2004 will be 103 additional lane kilometres of roads which will be built across the Region, plus 77 lane kilometres of roads will be resurfaced. Outlined below are some key 2004 Capital Road construction projects that will help alleviate congestion on Regional roads:
Vaughan
• Langstaff Road from Weston Road to Islington Avenue – widening from two to four lanes
• Islington Avenue from Lanstaff Road north to Major Mackenzie Drive - widening from two to four lanes • Rutherford Road between Jane Street and Weston Road - widening to six lanes • Dufferin Street between Rutherford Road and Major Mackenzie Drive – widening from two to four lanes • Rutherford Road from Highway 50 to Napa Valley Road – widening from two to four lanes • Weston Road from Rutherford Road to Major Mackenzie Drive – widening from two to four lanes Markham
• New Highway 407 interchange at Markham By-Pass
• Major Mackenzie Drive between Highway 48 and McCowan Road – widening from two to four lanes Richmond Hill
• 16th Avenue at Murel Road / Vogel Road – intersection improvements, additional turning lanes
• Gamble Road between Yonge Street and Bathurst Street – reconstruction with two traffic lanes • Bathurst Street from King Road to Wellington Street – widening from two to four traffic lanes Aurora
• Bayview Avenue from Wellington Street to St. John’s Sideroad – widening from two to four lanes
• St. John’s Sideroad from Yonge Street to Bayview Avenue – widening from two to four lanes Newmarket
• Bathurst street – Green Lane By-pass – to be opened in July
