York Regional Forest play host to Summer Forest Festival

York Region is proud to host its 2004 Summer Forest Festival on Saturday July 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the York Regional Forest Head headquarters, Hollidge Tract.  As part of the York Region Greening Strategy, the Summer Forest Festival encourages residents and tourists of all ages to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors while learning about "cool" forest facts.

Learn about water functions on the Oak Ridges Moraine, get introduced to some drought resistant plants and learn how they benefit you and the environment.  Discover the wildlife, insects and trees that live in the area and meet some raptors who make the forest their home. Other great activities include a forest firefighting demonstration and a demonstration of tree harvesting equipment.

The Summer Forest Festival is one of 12 free, monthly events hosted by York Forestry and the Regional Forest Advisory Team.  To obtain further information on this wonderful event and upcoming events pick up a copy of the 2004 Take a Walk in the Forest flyer or contact the York Regional Greening Co-ordinator at 1-877-464-9675 ext.5274.

We hope to see you there!
