Free yard waste drop-off for York Region residents

 


NEWMARKET – As of April 1, 2004, York Region residents can drop off their yard waste free of charge.  The drop-off location, operated by Halton Recycling Ltd., is located at 395 Harry Walker Parkway South in Newmarket.
 
The Halton facility will be accepting public yard waste drop-off in the place of Miller Waste Systems' facility on Bloomington Road in Richmond Hill.
 
Hours of Operation (April 1 to November 30, 2004):
 
• Monday-Friday (except statutory holidays)  8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• Evenings  (Tuesdays only)            until 8:00 p.m.
• Saturdays  (except statutory holidays)  8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
 
Items accepted include:
 
• Leaves
• grass clippings
• shrubs
• branches (up to 152 mm (6 inches) in diameter and 1.8 m (6 feet long))
• weeds
• fruits, vegetables and pumpkins
• flowers and garden plants
• small quantities of sod
