Does your child travel safely?

 

NEWMARKET - York Region Health Services and Johnson and Johnson are partnering again this year for the Safe Kids Canada Week from May 31 to June 6, 2004. This annual campaign promotes child safety and alerts parents and caregivers to potential hazards in a child's environment.

 

From Monday, May 31 to Saturday, June 5, York Region Health Services will be conducting a child passenger safety campaign. This campaign will focus on the dangers of using seat belts when transporting young children. Children aged 5 to 9 have the highest rate of injury in motor vehicle crashes because most are using seat belts rather than a safety booster seat. 

 

Public health nurses will be available throughout the week at the following locations to answer questions on car seat and booster seat safety:

 

Monday, May 31                Sears, Upper Canada Mall

                                       17600 Yonge Street, Newmarket

                                       10:30am -3:30pm      

 

Wednesday, June 2           The Bay, Hillcrest Mall

                                       9350 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill

                                       12:00pm - 4:00pm 

 

Thursday, June 3               Sears, Promenade Shopping Center

                                       1 Promenade Circle, Thornhill

                                       12:30pm – 4:30pm

 

Friday, June 4                   The Bay, Markville Mall

                                       5000 Hwy #7 East, Markham

                                       12:00pm - 4:00pm

 

A booster seat fitting clinic will also be available at the following location:

 

Saturday, June 5               Booster Seat Fitting Clinic

                                       60 Commerce Valley Drive      

                                       9:00am -1:00pm
