NEWMARKET – Members of the public are welcome to attend GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Day 2004 at the York Region Administrative Centre on November 17th.

 

In celebration of World GIS Day 2004, York Region will feature interactive exhibits, a map gallery, a seminar and a hands-on demonstration of the YorkExplorer GIS software.

 

Events will occur throughout the day, as follows:

 

9 a.m. GIS Map Gallery Exhibit and interactive demos (Great Hall)
Transportation and Works GIS Seminar (Committee Room A)

Noon Lunch & Learn: Using YorkExplorer (Committee Room A)

1:30 p.m.     "Doctor's Clinic" to answer your GIS questions
3:00 p.m. Cake and Refreshments

World GIS Day promotes the practice of geographic information systems to governments, schools, businesses, and the general public showcasing real-world applications of this important technology.

 

2004 marks the second year the York Region is celebrating GIS Day with interactive demonstrations and information.
