York Region Transit announces new services in Vaughan and East GwillimburyNEWMARKET – York Region Transit (YRT) opened its new terminal at the Vaughan Mills Mall in the City of Vaughan today. YRT will also begin servicing the newly opened GO Transit station in the Town of East Gwillimbury this coming week. Service to the Vaughan Mills Mall, which is now officially open, started this past weekend. It is serviced by:
• Route 85 – Rutherford Road – Rutherford-16th Avenue
• Route 4 – Jane Street – Major MacKenzie • Route 20 – Jane/Concord In January 2005, Route 12 (Pine Valley) is planned to be extended to provide direct service to Vaughan Mills.
The new YRT terminal at Vaughan Mills consists of eight platforms and includes shelters, benches, waste receptacles and transit information.
Service to the new East Gwillimbury GO Station located at Main Street and Green Lane will begin on November 7th, with connecting service to meet the three morning and evening GO trains. The station will be serviced by:
• Route 58 – Leslie North
• Route 52 – Holland Landing Currently, for only 25 cents passengers can board these YRT routes when they show their GO train ticket.
