Regional Municipality of York Remembrance Day CeremonyNEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York will be holding a Remembrance Day Ceremony on Thursday, November 11th, beginning at 10:40 a.m. Members of the public and media representatives are welcome to join Regional staff for the ceremony. Armand La Barge, York Regional Police Chief Michael Garrett, Chief Administrative Officer, York Region Clay Stones, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 426 Tony Centra, Grade 7 Student, St. Nicholas Catholic Elementary School Doug Sheppard, Union Chair of CUPE 905 and Master of Ceremonies BACKGROUND:
• A wreath will be presented from the Royal Canadian Legion, and two minutes of silence will be observed at 11:00 a.m.
• The ceremony will feature the York Regional Police and York Regional Emergency Medical Services Colour Guards; York Regional Police Piper, Peter Fleming; Tony Centra, a Grade 7 student who will read a poem he wrote on Remembrance Day; and Deborah Baber of York Regional Police, who will perform our National Anthem.
