May is Rabies Awareness Month

Low cost rabies clinic available

 
NEWMARKET – York Region Health Services in partnership with participating veterinary clinics is pleased to announce a low cost rabies clinic in the Town of Newmarket.  Owners of dogs and cats are encouraged to attend and have their pets vaccinated against rabies. The charge for this service is $15 including GST. Details of the clinic are as follows:
WHERE: Hollingsworth Arena – 35 Patterson Street, Newmarket
 (off Davis Drive between Prospect Street and Leslie Street)
WHEN: Sunday, May 29, 2005
 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
COST: $15.00
Please bring your dog or cat in a cage or on a leash.
Rabies is a preventable viral disease most often transmitted through the bite or scratch of a rabid animal. Without medical intervention prior to the appearance of symptoms it can be fatal. Vaccinations for your pets will not only protect them from acquiring rabies but will also help protect your family if your pet is bitten by a rabid animal. Pet owners have a legal requirement to vaccinate dogs and cats over the age of three months.
