The Regional Municipality of York hires new Commissioner of Transportation and Works

 NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York is pleased to announce the appointment of Bruce Macgregor as Commissioner of Transportation and Works, effective September 6th.  Mr. Macgregor succeeds Kees Schipper, who is retiring after nearly 11 years of service to the Region.

 

Mr. Macgregor holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Civil Engineering) degree from the University of Toronto.  Early in his career, he worked in consulting engineering, providing community building and environmental services for several large projects in the Greater Toronto Area.

 

Mr. Macgregor has previously served with the Regional Municipality of York in the Transportation and Works department as Capital Projects Manager from 1991 to 1995 and as Director of Water and Wastewater Services from 1995 to 2000.  Over the last five years, Mr. Macgregor has served as Commissioner of Engineering and Public Works for the Town of Richmond Hill.

 

With a wealth of private sector and public sector expertise, Mr. Macgregor brings with him impeccable credentials in both engineering and administration.  He is a highly-regarded leader, noted for his strong work ethic, commitment to working cooperatively and ability to advance and manage major capital programs.
