August YRT ridership growth nearly 12 per cent

NEWMARKET – York Region Transit (YRT) continued to post excellent ridership numbers, with 1.28 million passengers in August.  Overall, passenger numbers for 2005 increased by 11.9 per cent over the same time period in 2004.

 

YRT ridership for 2005 was just over 9.8 million passengers in August.  Over the same time period in 2004, ridership was just over 8.7 million passengers.

 

YRT has posted 10 per cent or greater ridership increases every year since the service was amalgamated in 2001.
