Highway 7 and Jane Street intersection to remain closed for up to a week as work begins on extensive repairs
Broken watermain causes significant damage to The watermain break occurred at approximately 8 a.m. this morning, with York Regional Police closing the intersection at 9 a.m. Highway 7 remains closed from Commuters travelling north-south in the area of Highway 7 and Construction work will include both sewer and watermain repairs. Large portions of roadway need to be excavated, replaced and temporarily repaved before the road can be re-opened. Additional repairs will also be required later this spring. York Region and the City of Viva rapid transit will be unaffected by the closure, however delays may occur due to the intersection closure. York Region Transit (YRT) is detouring two of its bus routes – YRT Route 77 and TTC Route 35D – to maintain service to the area.
