York Region releases the 2006 YorkLink Directory

Increased functionality makes it easier for the user to access vital information

NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York released the 2006 edition of its community services directory at Regional Council today. YorkLink: A Community Services Directory provides comprehensive information on over 700 community service providers and related government agencies in York Region.

“The Region is constantly growing and changing, which is why the YorkLink Directory is such an important resource,” said Regional Chair and CEO Bill Fisch.  “Through YorkLink, everyone can easily find information about a wide range of community services.”

The 2006 edition of YorkLink contains a new index which has been expanded to include more subject entries.  For the online version, the keyword search function has also been improved to make it broader. Community services are now quicker and easier to find than ever before.

“The YorkLink Directory has made community services information more accessible by expanding the index, adding three languages to the translation service, and enhancing the online keyword search,” said Town of Newmarket Mayor Tom Taylor, Chair of the Region’s Community Services and Housing Committee.  “These enhancements make it easier for the user to find vital information faster.”

In addition, the YorkLink Directory is now available in an accessible .pdf format for people with visual disabilities.
