Highway 7 and Jane Street intersection in City of Vaughan closed by York Regional Police

Motorists and pedestrians asked to stay clear of intersection until roads repairs completed

NEWMARKET – York Regional Police have closed the intersection of Highway 7 and Jane Street in the City of Vaughan following a pavement failure that has made the roadway unstable.

York Region officials are currently working to stabilize the intersection.  However, it cannot be determined at this time how long it will take before the intersection can be re-opened.

Motorists and pedestrians are asked to make alternate travel arrangements in order to avoid the intersection and affected area.

Service for York Region Transit (YRT) has been altered due to the closure of the intersection.  For revised scheduling information, please contact the YRT Call Centre at 1-866-MOVE-YRT (1-866-668-3978).

Viva rapid transit routes are not affected, however delays may occur due to the intersection closure.

An investigation is underway as to the cause of the pavement failure.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
