Participating residents will receive free bag of compost
NEWMARKET – As a part of its 2006 Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) spring campaign, York Region is holding a HHW Contest/Drop-off event this Saturday, June 24th at all HHW drop-off depots across the Region.
This Saturday, residents can drop off Household Hazardous Waste free-of-charge at any one of the Region's four depots. York Region will supply a 25L bag of compost to all residents who drop off materials and participating residents will be entered into a draw to win a $100 gift certificate for Canadian Tire.
When: Saturday, June 24th
8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Where: All 4 York Region Household Hazardous Waste Depots:
• Markham HHW Depot – Rodick Road, south of Miller Avenue
• East Gwillimbury HHW & Recycling Depot – 225 Garfield Wright Boulevard
• Georgina Waste Transfer Station & HHW Depot – 23068 Warden Avenue
• Vaughan HHW Depot – 2840 Rutherford Road

Examples of items accepted:
• All-purpose cleaners
• Bleach
• Alkyd and lead based paints
• Nail polish and remover
• Pesticides
• Pool chemicals
• Motor oil
• Rodent killer
• Mothballs
Attendees: City of Vaughan Regional Councillor Mario Ferri, Chair of York Region's Solid Waste Committee will be at the Vaughan depot from approximately 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon assisting in the distribution of compost to residents.
