Complimentary transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day

 

Families of deceased veterans are also welcome to take transit free-of-charge

 

NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York will be offering complimentary YRT and Viva transit services to war veterans and immediate families of deceased veterans this Remembrance Day, Saturday, November 11th.
 
Veterans and one companion, as well as immediate families of deceased veterans, can travel all day, system-wide without charge. 

 

Veterans can identify themselves to YRT/Viva drivers and fare inspectors by showing uniforms, medals, berets and blazers.  The immediate family of a deceased veteran may identify themselves with documents, including an identification card or service papers.
