York Region partners with local organizations to hold Re-Use/Drop-Off Event for residents

 
NEWMARKET – In recognition of Waste Reduction Week (October 16th-22nd), the Regional Municipality of York, in partnership with the Aurora Environmental Advisory Committee, Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity, is hosting a Re-Use/Drop-Off Event this Saturday, October 21st at the Region's Waste Management Centre in the Town of East Gwillimbury. 
This Saturday, residents can do their part to divert a portion of their household waste from landfills by dropping off their good quality, reusable items, including clothing, books, housewares, tools and building supplies.  Each resident who drops off items will receive a 56L bag of garden mulch, while quantities last.
Residents dropping off items are also welcome to take a tour of the Waste Management Centre where recyclable material is processed.  Tours will occur approximately every 30 minutes.

·         Clothing and accessories
 
·         Books, music, DVDs, videos
 
·         Games, toys, sports equipment and tools
 
·         Fabrics, textiles, housewares
 
·         Light and plumbing fixtures
 
·         Kitchen and bath cabinets
 
·         Unused full bundles of shingles
 
·         Unopened Paint cans
 
·         Hardware
 
 
 
Waste Management Centre Tours Residents will learn how waste and recyclables are processed at the Centre.
Tours will occur every 30 minutes between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
