Health Fair for the South Asian Community of York RegionNEWMARKET – The South Asian Health Coalition of York Region will be hosting their first Health Fair. The Health Fair will provide South Asian families living in York Region with an opportunity to gain knowledge and raise awareness about health issues, link with services and resources available in their community and enhance skills required for making healthier lifestyle choices.

Health care and community professionals Political dignitaries from municipal, provincial and federal levels of government Welcoming remarks at 10:00 a.m. (listed in order of appearance) by:
Naushad Hirji, Chair, South Asian Health Coalition of York Region (SAHCYR)
Deputy Mayor Frank Scarpitti, Town of Markham Regional Chair and CEO Bill Fisch, Regional Municipality of York Mayor Michael Di Biase, City of Vaughan John Tory, Leader of the Ontario PC Party and Leader of the Official Opposition Physicians from the South Asian Community will lead a panel discussion on heart disease, cancer and diabetes in the morning. During the afternoon, residents can participate in the various parenting and relationship workshops, healthy cooking demonstrations and other health-related seminars. There is also an opportunity to visit more than 35 exhibitor booths.
