York Region introduces York Region Transit (YRT) service restructuring in Town of Whitchurch-Stouffvillesimplified routes: Route 9-9th Line, Route 15-Stouffville Local, Route 215-Stouffville GO Shuttle and “York Region is committed to providing top quality transit services,” said York Region Chairman and CEO Bill Fisch. “This restructuring is an example of the continuous improvement of YRT services happening throughout York Region.” The September 4th service restructuring will provide a more direct connection to “Whitchurch-Stouffville is a growing community with growing transit needs,” said Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville Mayor Wayne Emmerson. “I’m very pleased to see our YRT services improving and recognizing the diverse travel needs of our residents.” Whitchurch-Stouffville’s first YRT route, Route 9/9A-Stouffville Local, was introduced in September 2004. “These YRT improvements will make it easier for residents to get around in Stouffville and connect to other municipalities,” said Town of York Region operates conventional YRT service and Viva Rapid Transit, as well as door-to-door Mobility Plus service for individuals with disabilities. YRT/Viva offers approximately 100 routes throughout the nine municipalities of York Region.
