Party in the right spirit Students learn safer prom and graduation celebration tips WHEN: Wednesday, March 28, 2007 WHERE: Bayview Hill Community Centre PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES: 9:50 a.m. – 10:40 a.m. Joe Rock, key note speaker from keepcontrol.ca 10:40 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Feature display – "How will you be picked up from the party?" A vehicle display including a limousine, ambulance, police cruiser, RIDE van, crash car, taxi and hearse will encourage students to plan ahead their ride home from the party. 12:00 noon – 12:30 p.m. Breakout sessions Students will engage in small group discussions surrounding impairment, sexuality, sexual assault and liability issues. WHO: (keepcontrol.ca) Women's Support Network of Students and staff from 22 participating Region schools Most proms are school sponsored, supervised events where the serving and possession of alcohol and other substances is strictly prohibited. It is recognized, however, there are also many pre/post-prom parties organized by individuals or groups of students, where alcohol and other substances may be available. The Party in the Right Spirit workshop provides high school prom/graduation planning committees with techniques to spread the message and raise awareness at their own schools about making informed decisions.
