Hair-raising Halloween thrills come to York Region

 

Halloween events offer exciting alternatives to typical trick-or-treating

 

NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York offers residents frightening Halloween attractions that are sure to deliver chills and thrills.  These events are included in the Region’s FestiFall guide, highlighting local Halloween attractions right in our own backyard.

 

“York Region is a vibrant, growing community with exciting attractions and festivities to enjoy,” said York Region Chairman and CEO Bill Fisch.  “Halloween is the perfect time to enjoy what our Region has to offer.”

 

Every weekend in October, Canada’s Wonderland hosts Halloween Haunt, featuring nine haunted mazes with hundreds of creepy creatures lurking around each corner.  Many of the park’s regular thrill-rides and attractions are open and running – in total darkness.

 

For a real fright, Stouffville’s Magic Hill Farm hosts The Haunted Adventure every weekend in October.  The adventure features over 140 live monsters and horrifying attractions such as the Black Cavern and Murder Motel.

 

“FestiFall’s family-friendly events are the perfect way to create memorable Halloween experiences,” said the Region’s Planning and Economic Development Committee Chair James Young, Mayor of the Town of East Gwillimbury.  “Haunted mazes, festive parties and costume parades are just some of the exciting Halloween attractions you’ll find throughout York Region.”

 

On October 21^st, bring the kids to the Pirate and Princess Party at Newmarket’s Magna Centre.  Theme crafts, costumes and Halloween games are just some of fun activities offered.  Children wearing costumes receive a special gift.

 

From October 26^th to 28^th, Markham Museum will present the Haunted Halloween Village – a weekend of Halloween fun for children under the age of 10.  Many of the homes in the historic village will be open for trick-or-treating.  Come in costume and prepare for chills and thrills with spooky ghost stories and other Halloween activities.

 

On October 27^th, Newmarket’s Elman W. Campbell Museum will host the Spooktacular Halloween Party. The festivities will feature games, crafts, a costume parade and a spooky story – all suitable for children aged four to 12.

 

Main Street Unionville will feature a fun, safe and spooky day of haunted trick-or-treating on October 28^th. The scariness of Halloween comes to life as the merchants of Main Street provide a spooky setting with a focus on safety.
