Trick or whistle: York Region Emergency Medical Services (EMS) helps keep children safe this Halloween

Mascot Parry the Paramedic to hand out emergency whistles to trick or treaters

NEWMARKET – Children are four times more likely to be injured on Halloween than any other day of the year.  Most injuries result from fall-related accidents and motorist-pedestrian collisions.

In the excitement that Halloween brings, children can forget to use common sense toward pedestrian and road safety.  Dark coloured costumes without reflective markings also make it extremely difficult for motorists to see trick or treaters.

To help keep our children safe this Halloween, York Region Emergency Medical Services (EMS) paramedics and EMS mascot Parry the Paramedic will distribute brightly coloured yellow whistles and bracelets to trick or treaters across York Region.

These highly visible treats will be distributed to parents and children throughout the day and into the evening.

The media is invited to attend the following distribution location:

WHEN:             Wednesday, October 31st

6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

WHERE:            88 Limeridge Street (Bayview Avenue and St. John’s Sideroad)

Town of Aurora
