Major projects in The Regional Municipality of York $1.04 billion 2009 Capital Plan
The 2009 Business Plan and Budget includes gross capital expenditures totalling $1.04 billion. Elements of the Capital Plan include:
• $398.2 million for Rapid Transit (of which $179.9 million is fully funded by senior levels of government)
• Construction of the TTC Spadina subway and Yonge Street subway extension
• A dedicated bus rapid transit lane for Davis Drive in the Town of Newmarket to support Southlake Regional Health Centre's new Cancer treatment facility

• $63 million for York Region Transit (YRT)

• Installation of a Disaster Recovery Plan for YRT's Information Technology (IT) infrastructure
• Construction of a transit vehicle garage and bus maintenance facility in the City of Vaughan
• New bus training simulator facility in the City of Vaughan

• Expansion of the Keswick Water Pollution Control Plant
• Expansion of the Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant (Phase 3)
• Construction in progress for :
o York Durham Sewer System (YDSS) Southeast Collector
• Construction of the YDSS Queensville/Holland Landing sewage treatment plant
• Expansion of the Keswick Water Pollution Control Plant
• $109.8 million for Water projects
• Development of water supply projects with Peel Region to meet York Region's future needs
• Construction of a second elavated tank in the Town of Richmond Hill
• Upgrades to the York Region water system for the Township of King, Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville and the City of Vaughan
• Georgina Water Supply (GWS) project expansion for supplying water to the Town of Georgina and the Communities of Mount Albert, Nobleton and Schomberg
• Launch of updated Water for Tomorrow program in York Region
